Fields of Gold - Summertime wedding inspiration for free-spirited bohemians

Updated: Dec 17, 2020

When Roshni asked for my help to plan, design, style, and coordinate this gorgeous shoot, I knew immediately which suppliers I needed to get on board to make it perfect.

We were so lucky to hold this shoot at the lovely and perfectly suitable Hunstmill Farm, set in the beautiful Buckinghamshire countryside.

The first set up was a rustic outdoor wedding ceremony in the cooling shade of the farm's tallest tree. Caroline, our humanist celebrant, delivered her romantic ceremony in front of the birch pole tipi base structure, decorated with dried flowers and macrame dreamcatchers that swayed in the summer breeze . A vintage Persian rug and a giant copper milk churn full of dried flowers were the only decorations needed, for the barley fields and the limitless summer sky made the perfect backdrop.

Our free-spirited bride Megan wore a magnificent vintage lace and crochet dress by the insanely talented Phiney at Poppy Perspective. This one-of-a-kind dress (named Roisin - if you just have to have it and need a reference) is the perfect bohemian bridal gown.

When your hair is pink, the only veil that will do must be a macrame veil (made by Holly at Cotton and Wild Bridal). Add a beautiful bridal bouquet, dried flower crown, perfectly done make-up (by Michelle at MUA Team London), fab jewellery that compliment your tattoos, and voila! Shoes? Who needs shoes! Nothing looks more romantic than a barefooted bride. On a horse! In the fields of gold!

The jewellery Megan and Michael wore were made by the uber-talented Julia at Julia Thompson Jewellery. Just look at that incredible necklace, those earrings, engagement ring, and the wedding bands?!

We had a pooch called Scrum who was our ring-bearer. He proudly wore a collar from which a handmade, crocheted ring cushion hung, made by Becca at To Be Adorned.

A low bohemian seating picnic area was set up for the post-ceremony refreshments, with beautiful mismatched crockery, vintage glasses, rose gold cutlery (rented from Classic Crockery) and a beautiful silk runner and napkins, hand-dyed especially for the shoot by Debbie at Ambers Rose Preservation. The tablescape was simple but lush with scatterings of pottery vases full of fresh and dried flowers, while taupe and powder pink candles burnt in vintage brass candle holders.

Grania at Ink and Paper designed the most incredible wedding stationery with such attention to detail that it took our breath away.

The happy couple sat on scatterings of Moroccan cushions in a shade of a small tree and celebrated their happily ever after. Above the table, like a rope chandelier hangs a magnificent macrame décor piece, made by the venue's very own manager, Emily.

The beautiful venue grounds were used to the full that hot summer's day. We even set up a chill-out area where our couple had a moment to themselves, kicking back on the plush sage velvet sofa.

All the amazing furniture and props were supplied by Amy at Anthology Vintage Hire.

Even our cake made by Lisa at Lisa Adams Cakes had a macrame décor on it, made by Phoebe at Wyeknot bridal. This talented lady also made our dreamcatchers and does commission work for all your wedding needs and home décor.

Last but not least, our lovely florists Paula and Hannah from The Thatched Florist brought a ton of incredible flowers for the shoot, all grown on their own land. Eco floristry at its best! They kindly brought Scrum to be our ring-bearer and Megan got to ride on Rum, their beautiful horse, which made my ultimate horseriding boho wedding dream come true.
