Planning your modern wedding
London & beyond

Retro-inspired Rock n’ Roll glamour is what I adore and niche in, with the ’60s and 70’s as my favourite eras where all my inspiration comes from. You know, for that rockstar wedding vibe the Trailblazers set all those years ago.  If you’re reading this, chances are you are my kind and want a fellow icons worshiper to help you pull your rockstar-inspired wedding off just right.

Our love of London

London is a cradle of all things iconic and cool - from music, fashion, nightlife, design, and architecture.  There are so many incredible wedding venues in London suitable for different budgets and vibes.  You can read more about how to choose your wedding venue on the blog here

Of course, the UK in general has an incredible selection of wedding venues to choose from.  I’m here to help with that if you need me to.  It’s all a part of the service here at Whole Lotta Love Weddings.

I’m listing a few of my favorites below, but don’t fret if you don’t see your venue amongst them.  I couldn’t possibly fit all the cool venues onto one page!

Where we LOVE planning & styling weddings

There are SO many amazing venues in London and beyond.  What we love the most is when our couples chose quirky, dry-hire venues, or stunning venues that are far removed from the typical hotel wedding setup.  Venues that are completely on brand for your vision, allowing us to style it just right.  Your venue choice should take the number one priority when planning a wedding, so doing your research is vital.  We can totally help you with that, of course.  When choosing your venue, take into consideration the budget, the number of guests, and the interior that will give you the opportunity for the ideal backdrop.  A place that says, YOU.

Below are some incredible venues that we love to work in.

Shoreditch Studios, East London

I adore this dry-hire urban venue.  You can really go to town with your wedding décor within its two barrel-vaulted ceiling rooms and a great courtyard too. Plus, Shoreditch has some wicked graffiti-clad streets, perfect for your after-the-ceremony couple's shoot. It’s 200 sg ft in total and can fit 100 to 170 guests.

Clapton country club, East London

This unique and quirky urban space is in the heart of East London. It used to be a tram shed and it still retains its industrial feel.  It has a capacity for 140 seated guests and up to 220 standing for when the party kicks off.

This historic yet uber-modern London wedding venue is perfect for cool urban celebrations. It has a 6m high barrel-vaulted ceiling and loads of natural light for that dramatic feel. It’s another dry-hire blank canvas (all white) which lends itself to infinite décor possibilities. The hall capacity is 200 banqueting style, downstairs reception space fits 130 standing and 60 seated.

One Friendly Place, South East London

One Friendly Place Deptford SE London

This incredible 1930s warehouse space is a truly unique wedding venue that I adore. It’s big, 7500sq feet, spread over 4 floors and even has a roof terrace. It’s full of industrial chic backdrops, a decaying conservatory, and the whole interior is full of incredible vintage boudoir-like furniture, resembling a rockstar pad. Loads of parking, a large kitchen that can be used for catering. Just incredible!

Maverick projects
Asylum chapel South London

Asylum Chapel is one of the most romantic, unusual, and beautiful wedding venues you will ever see. Tall ceilings, large windows, decaying walls (for the most incredible dramatic photography) - so grand but intimate.

Maverick Projects, South London

100 Barrington, Brixton
South London

This is Brixton’s hidden gem.  Bult in 1879 next to the railway arches it used to be a furniture factory.  It’s a great dry-hire space over 1500 sq ft with its exposed original brickwork, high ceilings, exposed beams, and a great private courtyard. Maximum capacity 200 guests.

Battersea Arts Centre, South London

This huge and magnificent Grand Hall is South London’s most beautiful dry hire venue, lending itself to the most spectacular styling.  I’m talking on a large-scale, people – up to 600 guests (and only up the road from me).

Loft Studios, West London

Another great dry hire refurbished Victorian warehouse venue, on a large scale.  It has 5 interlinking spaces and 2 large secluded courtyards, exposed brickwork everywhere, high vaulted ceilings, oak flooring and loads of natural light. Capacity: 200 Cabaret style, 300 seating, 400 standing + theatre 300.

Fitzrovia chapel
London borough of W
estminster

This stunning and one-of-a-kind Grade II listed Gothic chapel is one of the most romantic chapels I’ve ever seen. You can have a civil, religious or a celebrant led ceremony here. The chapel can seat 60 guests with drinks or 78 without.

You will need a planner/stylist and florist for setup and takedown as the chapel has restrictions in place.

If you’re looking to throw a proper wedding party by the sea, then this bar/club venue is the one for you.  It’s great for smaller weddings - sits 85 - or for a more relaxed, informal standing reception (and a good old-fashioned knees-up) up to 200. It has a nice large terrace too, perfect for balmy summer evenings. I keep being asked to style this venue, which is always so much fun as they let you do whatever you want.

Botley Hill Barn, Surrey

Botley Hill Barn Surrey

This luxury rustic barn wedding venue sits high on Titsey Hill and has incredible panoramic views of the North Downs. It has beautiful, landscaped gardens, and a large wooden terrace, perfect for cocktail hour. The interior is impressive with its huge feature floor-to-ceiling windows letting in the light.  The exposed wood and flint is the perfect base for any décor colour.

Cowley Manor
Gloucestershire

This stunning (and oh so cool) wedding venue is set within a wonderland of lakes, meadows, cascades, and woodland.

You can hire this place exclusively for two days and have all your guests (70 in total + bridal suite) stay at the hotel too.

Fully licenced for indoor and outdoor ceremonies with a tiny Chapel on site too. Indoor seats 100, outdoor up to 200.

Bingham Riverhouse
Richmond

Bingham Riverhouse is a gorgeous boutique hotel and wedding venue in Richmond, SW London. The décor has mid-century retro-chic to it, and the staff are brilliant. It has the most stunning garden overlooking the river Thames, perfect for an outdoor ceremony. This stunning venue can be hired out exclusively for the weekend, has 15 bedrooms, can host up to 90 guests seated and more for the evening party.
